Day 1: Arrival – Kampala City Tour
Pick up by our company tour guide and transfer to hotel in Kampala for freshening up, depending on the time you have arrived. You will have a Kampala city tour to Kampala’s historical sites, with the help of our driver or guide. This can be done in places like; Kasubi tombs, Wamala tombs, Namugongo martyrs shrine, museums and craft shops around town like on Bombo road and others. Dinner and overnight will be at Speke Hotel Kampala or Hotel Africana or related hotels.
Day 2: Kampala – Murchison Falls National Park
Have breakfast and start off your journey to Murchison falls National Park, have lunch in Masindi, then continue to the magnificent falls. Upon arrival drive to the top of the falls. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/ Sambiya River Lodge/ Red Chili Rest Camp
Day 3: Game Drive & Launch Cruise
Morning breakfast and then proceed on a game drives on the southern banks of the river. On the drive you may spot: Hartebeest, Elephants, Bushbucks, Lion, Jackal and many others. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the late afternoon have a launch cruise to the bottom of the falls. Feast on this bird watcher’s haven spotting, kingfishers, goliath heron, African fish eagle, African jacana, piacpiac, rock pranticole and many others. Wildlife you may see include: hippo, crocodiles, buffalo, water buck, kob, giraffe and bush buck. . Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/ Sambiya River Lodge/ Red Chili Rest Camp
Day 4: Transfer from Murchison Falls to Fort Portal
After an early breakfast, depart Murchison falls for Fort Portal, the place where Semiliki and Kibale Forest National Parks are found. The drive is roughly 8 hours arriving late in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight will be at Ndali lodge, Mountains of the moon hotel.
Day 5: Drive to Semliki National Park.
After breakfast proceed to Semliki National Park, situated in the extreme west of Uganda, in Bundibugyo District. The Park is the only lowland tropical Forest in East Africa classified as moist and semi- deciduous. There are 336 tree species recorded of which24 are restricted to Semliki National Park. 63 species of mammals, 9 species of which are diurnal forest primates including. Chimpanzees, blue monkey, vervet monkeys, and olive baboons. You will have a walk to the male hot spring and proceed to the female Hot spring where you will have your lunch prepared naturally from the boiling waters of the hot springs. Later visit the pigmy tribe of people as you wind up to return to your accommodation in Fort portal overnight at Chimpanzee Forest Guest house or Primate Lodge or Mountains of the Moon Hotel
Day 6: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Have an early morning breakfast transfer to Kanyanchu for a briefing from a park ranger later begin chimp tracking adventure. The wildlife experience in this tropical rainforest is overwhelming. For birders, the afternoon may be dedicated to birding in either Sebitoli Forest Centre or Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Have your dinner and overnight at luxurious Ndali lodge.
Day 7: Kibale – Queen Elizabeth National Park.
After taking something to drink this morning, transfer to Queen Elizabeth national Park (5 hrs) via the Ishasha route. On your way recognize the tree-climbing lions alongside Uganda Kobs, buffalos. Finally when you enter the park begin with a game drive to Mweya Peninsular. Near the Mweya lodge there are buffalos, warthogs, Defassa waterbuck and bush baby among others. Visit the Katwe town. Here there are several saline crater lakes. Check out how the locals mine salt. Sleep overnight in Mweya Safari Lodge/ Mweya Institute.
Day 8: Game Drive and Launch Cruise
After breakfast go for an early game drive to Kasenyi plains where you will spot black and white colobus, bush buck, Uganda Kob, topi, Defassa waterbuck, and Cape buffaloes. A collection of birds like Cassin’s grey flycatcher, broad billed roller, black bee-eater along the banks of Lake Edward. This can take you 2-3 hrs. Head back to lodge for lunch then in the evening go for a launch cruise on Kazinga channel (2hrs) along lake George-lake Edward, come eye-eye with yawning hippos, crocodiles, leopards though sporadic. Watch birds for birders with over 550 resident species like flamingos, red chest, papyrus Gonolek, pink backed pelicans, malachite kingfishers, yellow crown, pink backed pelicans, water thick-knee, yellow billed stork, shoebill stock. Don’t forget your camera. Return to Mweya Safari Lodge/ Institute of Ecology/Simba Safari.
Day 9: Chimps Tracking in Kyambura George – Transfer to Bwindi Gorilla Forest
This morning take your breakfast then head straight for chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge at exactly 8:00am. Did you know we have a lot in common? So spend some time with them to learn more. There are more diverse primates also mainly Black and white Colobus monkeys and other animals like antelopes, hyenas in the middle of savanna grassland. This gorge has many bird species. After here transfer to Kibale national park which is just a 4 hrs ride. Check in Primates Lodge/ Crater Valley Resort.
Day 10: Bwindi Gorilla Tracking Adventure
Get up early and take breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing about the gorillas. Head for the thick jungles of Bwindi as you trek searching for the gorillas. This can take you half a day or more spend an hour with the gorillas. In the evening you can take a village walk around Buhoma and find out about the Batwa pygmy natives, also shop from available curio shops. Sleep overnight in Gorilla Forest Camp/ Buhoma Homestead.
Day 11: Transfer from Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi
Breakfast will be followed by transfer to Lake Bunyonyi with beautiful sceneries en-route. Enjoy one of the most extraordinary wildlife and birding experience by boat as you cross the Lake Bunyonyi. The forested green islands on the lake are home to different species of endemic birds which the guide will help you to spot. All meals at Arcadia Cottages.
Day 12: Lake Bunyonyi – Lake Mburo
Have breakfast and drive through Kabale in the Kigezi region, known as the ‘Switzerland of Africa’ characterized by terraced cultivated hills. Visit the Bakiga cultural museum and later connect to Lake Mburo National Park, the smallest of Ugandan National Parks. Expect big game drive en route as you head to Lake Mburo National Park. Take an evening game drive before sunset in search for the beautiful impalas, elands, topi and many antelopes, buffaloes, and zebras among others.Dinner and overnight at Arcadia Cottages / Rwonyo Camps
Day 13: Boat ride on lake Mburo – Ngamba Island
After breakfast, embark on a morning boat trip on Mburo Lake, an excellent place for birding including the rare shoebill. Other animals include Hippos, Huge crocodiles. Later proceed to Kampala and to Entebbe to Ngamba Island a chimps sanctuary. Dinner and overnight at your Hotel.
Day 14: Transfer to Ngamba Island
After breakfast, have a forest walk through the forest. Its a wonderful adventure with the playful primates including chimpanzees and monkeys swinging up on the trees. These creatures enjoy climbing visitors and pulling their bags, hair and walking along visitors while holding their hands. Lunch at the camp and either relax at the Lake Victoria’s shores or take a walk in the forest in search for birds, butter flies and other small insects are also present. Morning at leisure, after breakfast, you will have a nature walk in the forest; have a boat transfer to Entebbe to catch your flight back home.
