This indelible 10-day Uganda safari blends primate trekking adventures with wildlife viewing safaris. This once-in-a-lifetime journey embarks with arrival into the country, via the Airport of Entebbe where you will have the opportunity to visit some of the top tourist hot spots in the Town. You will cap this Uganda safari with the trek through Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the endangered mountain gorillas.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the haven of over 450 mountain gorillas, making it almost half the World’s population of these Giant Apes. Here, the highest ever recorded numbers of habituated gorilla families are found in four trekking sectors (Buhoma, Nkuringo, Ruhija and Rushaga). Besides gorillas, this safari destination is home to 120 mammal species, 350 bird species, 200 butterfly species and so much more.

The Trip also heads to Murchison falls National Park, the Premier Park and undeniably most popular safari destination with about 75 mammal species and 441 bird species. World-class game viewing experiences, hot air balloon tours, walking safaris, birding tours, boat cruises and chimp treks are enjoyed by tourists here.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Entebbe: Arrival into breathtaking Uganda and drive to the Capital

Welcome to the breathtaking Entebbe! The main entry point into Uganda is not just known for the Airport but also breathtaking tourist attractions that include the Botanical gardens. Uganda Wildlife Education Center and was also the first Capital of Uganda during Colonial times. When you arrive the Airport, a private driver will receive and drive you to the Hotel in Kampala for check-in. Once you have had enough time to rest form the jet lag, you will head out for a brief city tour. Besides being the starting point of this safari, Kampala is also a historical and cultural center.

Day 2: Kampala-the mind-boggling Murchison falls National Park

Following a lovely breakfast, you will take a scenic drive to Murchison falls National Park. During this unforgettable seven to eight-hour journey, you will relish breathtaking sceneries of changing landscapes and ecosystems of northern Uganda plus the guided walk through Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola district, Central Uganda, home to the country’s only Rhino population in the wild. Then, stop by Amuka Lodge for a quick lunch and continue to Murchison falls National Park. In the evening, be treated to a mouth-watering meal under the stars and retire for the night.

Day 3: Game viewing experience and boat ride in Phenomenal Murchison falls Park tours

Experience the heart of Murchison falls National Park after having breakfast at the lodge. For this day, two wonderful activities in form of game drives and boat rides are organized. Among other mind-blowing things, you will see lions, leopards, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, serval cats, Topis, Uganda Kobs, warthogs, hartebeests, Defassa waterbucks and duikers on-board the open 4X4 vehicle. You will have lunch back at the         Lodge at the end of the game drive.

For the afternoon, a boat ride will be undertaken via the Victoria Nile, where some of the most unforgettable and awe-inspiring views will be relished. The adventure begins from paraa jetty and goes slowly with sights of Hippos and Crocodiles being the highlight although elephants, buffaloes, Uganda Kobs and warthogs as well as plethora of birds are also expected. Cool off with a bath at the Lodge before being served lunch and dinner.

Day 4: Long drive to Fort Portal Town

Today, you will travel 7-8 hours to Fort Portal Town, the Tourism City of Uganda where Mother Nature comes to reality. During the journey, you will relish views of the Lake Albert escarpment as you enter the rural homesteads, vast banana and tea plantations that make up the western region. The Town of Fort Portal offers relaxing ambiance with cool breeze and as a matter of fact, this Town is one of the coolest places you will ever visit in Uganda. In the town you will see a maze of craft markets, breathtaking Crater Lakes, local markets and so much more. Relax, dine and slumber at the booked Lodge.

Day 5: Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park: Boat cruise on Kazinga Channel

After the good night rest and breakfast at the Hotel/Lodge, you will check-out and continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This Park sits within the western side of the country and is famous for game drives with chances of seeing tree climbing lions and boat cruises on Kazinga Channel. On your arrival at this park entrance gate, another transfer will lead you to your Lodge but it’s not some ordinary drive but is in form of a game drive with views of Cape buffaloes, Olive baboons, elephants, Uganda Kobs, Defassa waterbucks, Topis and bushbucks.

Lunch is at the Lodge but this doesn’t mean the day closes. A boat cruise along Kazinga Channel starts in the afternoon, from Mweya jetty with sights and sounds of Hippos and crocodiles alongside elephants, buffaloes and several species of birds. Your meals and dinner for the next two days will be at the northern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park adventures: Chimp trek and afternoon/evening game drive

After a sumptuous breakfast, you will be driven to Kyambura Gorge to go chimpanzee trekking. During this half-day adventure, you will walk through the supposed underground forest while searching for the habituated troop of chimpanzees but before it begins, first receive briefing from the expert Park Rangers. Leave while braced with hiking boots, long sleeved shirts, safari pants, gardening gloves in addition to being equipped with a camera and binoculars.

After your adventure in Kyambura Gorge, you will have lunch and rest at the Lodge, while preparing for the evening game drive with lots of nocturnal life such as lions, spotted hyenas, leopards, serval cats, jackals, Hippos, to mention but a few. Close the evening with delicious dinner and overnight at the same Lodge.

Day 7: Day excursion to Ishasha sector, southern Queen Elizabeth National Park

Following breakfast, there is more adventure in store for this day within Queen Elizabeth National Park. First have an early morning game drive through the Northern sector where more of the animals will be spotted. Drive through the sweeping plains while spotting lions, elephants, leopards, black and white colobus monkeys, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, bushbucks, Hippos, banded mongoose, Defassa waterbucks, Olive baboons and vervet monkeys among others. Late morning continue towards the southern sector because the afternoon finds us here to see the tree climbing lions that are active during hot afternoons. After taking your time to admire and photograph these creatures, you will proceed to the Lodge for meals, relaxation and overnight.

Day 8: Continue to the incredible Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Having experienced the savannah in Murchison falls and Queen Elizabeth National Parks, it’s now time to venture into the jungles to see what it offers. This morning, have breakfast and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the gorilla trekking experience. On arrival, you will straight away check-in at the Lodge for meals and relaxation. If you have energy after your journey, feel free to stretch your legs with a guided walk around the surrounding community to learn about their culture, traditions and what makes them stand out.

Day 9: Explore Bwindi tours: Gorilla Trekking experience and village walks

After an amazing breakfast at the Safari Lodge, your driver will be set for pick-up and drop-off at the Park Headquarters for the full-day gorilla trekking tour. The guided tour begins at 8:00am, but the first stop us the trailhead for the 45-60 minutes’ briefing and registration. Through this guided tour, the Ranger guide will provide an insight into the various flora and fauna encountered along the way. Therefore, have your camera and binoculars set and at-hand.  Once you located the mountain gorillas, you will spend one hour for observation and photography.

At this point, keep your eyes peeled for the silverbacks watching over their territory, mothers breastfeeding their babies, juveniles playing and grooming each other and many other gorilla routines.  Enjoy lunch at the Lodge but interestingly, the day isn’t over after the gorilla trek. Visit the surrounding local community for another memorable experience and get back to the Lodge where you will re-charge with delicious dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Kampala: Drive from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and departures

After a wonderful breakfast at the Lodge, you will be picked up by the driver for a scenic transfer to the Capital in Kampala. On getting there, get transferred to the Hotel to rest while making other travel plans or the Airport for flight to next destination.
