This short Kenya safari is an interesting wildlife safari which includes game drives in Masai Mara with possibility to watch the Great Migration- wildebeests, gazelles, zebras etc.

Lake Nakuru National Park, a special birding spot blessed with millions of colorfully beautiful pink flamingos. This park is perched right in Central Kenya, 140kms North-west of Nairobi. Created in 1961, Lake Nakuru National Park occupies only 188sq.kms of land area.

Lake Nakuru National Park is an amazing place to also see 4 members of the big five game- buffaloes, leopards, rhinos and lions. Other wildlife species include warthogs, zebras, hippos, impalas and over 450 bird species including Abyssinian thrush, flamingos, black tailed godwit, ostriches, arrow marked babbler, sooty falcons, European rollers, black winged lapwing, pelicans etc.

Samburu National Park is a magical tourist site of its own. This is popular for its distinct grevy’s zebras and other wildlife, birds etc. The 5 days Kenya safari, 4 nights & 5 days will begin and end in Nairobi.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Masai Mara National Reserve- game drive

After breakfast, begin your 5 days Kenya safari 5-6 hours’ drive from Nairobi. Drive to Narok while viewing the spectacular savanna grassland, vast plains of the Great Rift Valley, enjoy breathtaking view of Mount Margaret, Mount Suswa and Mt. Longonot.

Enjoy your lunch upon arrival at Maasai Mara and at the lodge. This nature reserve is endowed with variety of wildlife including hippos, crocodiles, zebras, tops, hyenas, big five game- elephants, buffaloes, leopards, lions, rhinos and many other wildlife.

After ample relaxation, you will have an evening game drive to explore some of the special wildlife that make Masai Mara a great world’s destination. Later, drive back to enjoy a relaxed evening back at the lodge, dine and spend a night.

Day 2: Full Day wildlife tour Masai Mara & Maasai cultural walk

Enjoy an early morning breakfast, after, meet your driver guide ready to go for a game drive. A game drive at Masai Mara allows you to see diversity of wildlife roaming in the Mara plains including the elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, rhinos, antelopes, birds, wildebeest and more.

Depending on the month you will be visiting Mara Reserve, there is possibility to watch the wildebeest migration. This is for those of you who happen to visit Masai Mara National Reserve from June to September.

Today, you have a full day in Masai Mara National Reserve and you will have a picnic lunch. After, begin another phase of game viewing and particularly, Mara River will be your area of interest in order to see huge crocodiles, hippos and more. The day will be perfectly ended with cultural tour in the Maasai village.

Day 3: Mara to Lake Nakuru NP

Wake up early morning and have breakfast, after, leave Masai Mara National Reserve for Lake Nakuru National Park. Nakuru N/Park is endowed with millions of flamingos and also protects a range of other wildlife including the Rothschild giraffes, black and white rhinos.

After lunch, embark on a guided game drive through Nakuru National Park towards the scenic Lakeshores. As you drive, keep an eye on a range of wildlife and birds. Retreat thereafter for leisurely relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru-Samburu, evening game drive

Rise up for breakfast, after, leave Lake Nakuru National Park for Samburu National Reserve. Get to Samburu early, check in at your lodge, relax and then enjoy a delicious lunch.

After, you will go for an afternoon or evening game drive to see diversity of wildlife including the rare grevy’s zebras, leopards, gerenuk, shy oryx, crocodiles, elephants, giraffes. There are also over 365 bird species, most of which will be sighted on Samburu game drive in the evening including weaver birds, martial eagles and more.

Day 5: Return to Nairobi

Rise up for an early breakfast, after, meet your driver guide- go enjoy last game drive via the park. Proceed to Nairobi if you already checked out of the lodge and this marks the end of 5 days Kenya safari.

When to visit Kenya for wildlife tour?
