Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to the highest population of mountain gorillas in the world while Kibale Forest National Park is the primate capital of Africa sheltering the highest number of chimpanzees in Africa. Besides chimpanzees, Kibale forest is home to other 12 primates such as Colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, black and white Colubus, baboons, Grey cheeked Mangabey, Olive baboons, L Hoest monkeys, Vervet monkeys, blue monkeys, Demidoff Galago, Pottos, and Uganda monkeys among others.   You will combine this primate trekking experiences with community visit and nature walks to make a complete package. The safaris starts and ends in Kampala

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable Forest National Park

Early in the morning, the driver guides will our company come for you at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport. After the welcome and the briefing, start off a fascinating full day drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. You will have several stopovers on your way to Bwindi. Stop at the Uganda equator for photos, Mbarara city for lunch and food stall to enjoy roadside foods. The drive from Kampala to Bwindi is roughly 8-10 hours via Mpigi, Masaka, Mbarara, Ntungamo and Kabale districts

Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking & Batwa community tour

Today will start with you rising up very early, have breakfast and with your packed lunch drive to the park head quarters for pre gorilla trekking briefing and registration. If there are other clients present, you will be divided into groups if eight and each given a specific gorilla family to visit.  At 8:00am, two armed park rangers will escort you to the starting point and the trek commences. The hike through the impenetrable forest us not a walk way but rather a strenuous adventure. Keep within your group and pay attention to the warnings by your park ranger. After meeting gorillas, you will be allowed to spend an hour in their company. Use this hour to take pictures, capture videos and learn their social characters that make them man’s close relatives.  Ensure to observe all the rules and regulations given to you at the start of the trek!. In the evening, visit batwa pygimies to learn about their traditional forest life.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, check out and get ready for a transfer to Kibale Forest National park, home to the endangered chimpanzees. The drive time from Bwindi impenetrable forest to Kibale forest is roughly 6 hours drive via Queen Elizabeth National park Uganda’s second largest and popular park. Enjoy beautiful sceneries of kigezi rolling islands, plantations of tea, bananas and local homesteads.  You will have lunch enroute and proceed to Kibale forest arriving in the afternoon. Spend the rest of the evening chilling at your lodge as you prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking & Bigodi walk

Wakeup early, enjoy heavy breakfast and transfer to Kanyanchu visitor information Centre where pre chimpanzee trekking and registration in Kibale Forest National park takes place. You will the start off a trek to meet the endangered chimpanzees in the jungle forest. Pay attention to the hoots and loud laughs of chimpanzees heard from a distance. These guide you to easily locate where to find them saving you time and energy. During the trek, you will meet other primates such as colobus monkeys, baboons, vervet monkeys, blue monkeys and many others. The forest is also home to thousands of butterflies, which you will meet. Also, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is home to over 370 bird species, which make it a haven for birders. Look up in the trees to see birds such as Great bue turaco, Slender billed weaver, Tropical boubou, Pin tailed whydah, Green breasted pitta, grey parrot, Masked Apalis, Black bee eater and yellow rumped tinketbird among others.  The allowed time with chimpanzees is strictly an hour counted from when you locate the chimps.  Later in the day, go fro a nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary, home to several primates, birds, amphibians and reptiles.  A nature walk is the best way to explore the hidden gem and enjoy the natural environment and all its beauties on foot!

Day 5: Departure

This is the last day of our 5 Days adventure trip. In the morning you  can have an optional forest walk to enjoy birds and primates rising up. Alternatively, stay at your lodge and enjoy your last moments in your bed or lounge. After breakfast, get your bags out and setoff headed to Kampala.
