Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive into Entebbe International Airport, Uganda

Following your majestic arrival at Entebbe International Airport, we shall have an experienced private driver waiting to meet and greet you prior to transferring to your booked accommodation facility in Kampala City. The distance between the Airport and Uganda’s Capital is about 40 kilometers and the journey is only one hour. Savour on a delicious meal with views of the City and later stretch your legs on a stroll along Kampala’s popular and outstanding streets. Make sure that you take in the Museums as well as art and craft markets as they light up at twilight. Your dinner and overnight will be back at the Hotel.

Day 2: Scenic road trip to Murchison falls National Park, Uganda

Take a scenic road trip to Uganda’s oldest National Park and appreciate the beauty of breathtaking Murchison falls. The trip is about 7-8 hours and includes en-route stops at Luwero to shop for fresh tropical fruits and Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola district for a chance to track the country’s only population of Rhinoceros in the wild. The Ranger guides at the Sanctuary offer a wonderful introduction to one of the big five animals. Lunch will also be enjoyed from the Sanctuary (at Amuka Safari Lodge) then proceed with the journey until any of the Park’s entrance gates. The rest of the day will be spent unwinding at the Lodge with awe-inspiring views of the sweeping wilderness and River Nile.

Day 3: First game viewing experience, Murchison falls National Park

On this day, your private safari driver will pick you up from the Murchison falls National Park accommodation and take you straight into the wilderness for a wildlife viewing experience. The country’s premier National Park always sits atop numerous travellers’ list of must-see safari destinations within Uganda. Join a guided game drives to learn about the different wildlife species that call it home. These include elephants, Rothschild giraffes, warthogs, leopards, Cape buffaloes, spotted hyenas, African bush elephants, duikers, bushbucks, Uganda Kobs, spotted hyenas, serval cats, to mention but a few. After the 3-4 hours’ tour, you will continue to the Lodge for hot lunch.

Leave the Lodge after lunch to have another thrilling activity in Murchison falls National Park. Are you a fan of Hippos and crocodiles? Then you can’t miss this Nile boat cruise where high concentrations of these animals alongside birds are spotted. A sumptuous dinner and comfortable place to lay your head will be prepared at the Lodge.

Day 4: Murchison falls-Kibale Forest National Park, Uganda

Proceed for Kibale Forest National Park post mouth-watering breakfast. The journey for this day is about 7-8 hours without any activities planned except stopovers along the way for photography and admiring the views. The countryside, vast tea and banana plantations and snow-capped peaks of Rwenzori Mountains are some of the views you can expect during this journey while lunch is at Fort Portal Town, then dinner and overnight within or around Kibale Forest National Park.

Day 5: Tour Kibale Forest National Park via Chimpanzee trekking and wetland walk

Explore the verdant Kibale Forest National Park after a delicious breakfast. Key highlights of the day are chimpanzee trekking within the Park and guided walk through Bigodi wetland Sanctuary. The guided chimpanzee trek begins in the morning with breakfast at the Lodge followed by briefing at Kanyanchu Visitor Center on the guidelines to be followed and what to expect from the jungles. The duration of the trek isn’t predictable because the Great Apes are continuously moving but 1-4 hours are enough to meet the habituated troop. A number of primates, birds, butterflies and trees are sighted along the way and one hour is the allocated time for observing and photographing mankind’s closest relatives living their normal lives in the wild.

Picnic lunch within the jungles or freshly prepared lunch will be enjoyed at the Lodge before continuing for the second highlight of the day. Spend the afternoon walking through Bigodi wetland Sanctuary learning about its existence, primates and birds until evening when you get back to the Lodge to dine and rest.

Day 6: Kibale Forest-Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda

After mouth-watering breakfast, proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park and check into the Safari Lodge on arrival. An afternoon game drive is undertaken on arriving the safari destination and includes spotting African bush elephants, Cape buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, warthogs, Topis, Defassa waterbucks, etc. Relax with a cold drink, dinner and overnight at the Wilderness Safari Lodge OR camp.

Day 7: Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park via Kasenyi game drive and Kazinga boat ride

Want to see the different wildlife species and breathtaking landscapes of Queen Elizabeth National Park? Grab your camera, pair of binoculars, sunglasses, wide brim hat and drinking water then embark on a 3-4 hour’s game drive, taking you along the endowed Kasenyi plains or any other magnificent areas of this savannah National Park.

First, fuel with breakfast to allow you concentrate on the animals only and not your empty stomach. Let the wilderness air, breathtaking views and wildlife sights touch you as the Park Ranger identifies encountered animals. Here, lions, elephants, warthogs, Olive baboons, leopards, serval cats, Hippos, Defassa waterbucks, bushbucks, Topis and so much more are seen. Rest for the remainder of the morning on returning back to the Lodge.

In the afternoon you will return back for the second doze of enjoyment through the Kazinga boat cruise where lots of Hippos, Nile crocodiles, birds are sighted. Continuing back to the Safari Lodge for dinner and slumber.

Day 8: Ishasha game drive-Bwindi Impenetrable forest, Uganda

Following breakfast, check-out from the Safari Lodge or Camp in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This comes with a game drive through the northern plains, heading to Ishasha sector, in the southern part of the savannah Park for a chance to see the tree climbing lions. More animals will be seen during this drive especially Uganda Kobs, Defassa waterbucks, bushbucks, Topis and so much more. Proceed to Savannah Resort Kihihi for the lunch and finally to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Trek the Bwindi mountain gorillas and visit Batwa community, Uganda

This day is for exploring Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a stunning and most endowed gorilla trekking destination in the World. It has about 20 habituated gorilla families within four trekking sectors/regions that include Rushaga, Buhoma, Nkuringo and Ruhija. Our adventure will be based in Buhoma with briefing starting at 7:00am and actual gorilla treks by 8:00am. Enjoy one hour of interacting with these Giant Apes and after return back to the Lodge for lunch.

In the evening indulge yourself in the rich cultures of Batwa pygmies and relish their delicious cuisines, cultural dances and unique housing structure as well as basket weaving. Exciting adventures will see you retire to the place of lodging with unforgettable memories for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Bwindi-Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

On this day your private safari driver will pick you up from your Safari Lodge in the morning and take you to Rwanda. This road transfer takes you about 6-7 hours with border crossing at Katuna Border. Get ushered into the land of a thousand hills and continue to Volcanoes National Park in the north-western side of the country. Once there, be treated to a delicious lunch and later dinner as well as overnight within the outskirts of Volcanoes National Park.

Day 11: Tracking Volcanoes golden monkeys and visit to Gorilla Guardian’s Village, Rwanda

Following breakfast, head off to explore the spectacular Volcanoes National Park, one of the two golden monkey tracking destinations of the World. Once at the Park Headquarters, be briefed on the adventure, then take a walk into the jungles while absorbing the vistas of the forest and spend 2-4 hours including the one hour of viewing and photographing of these Albertine Rift endemic primates. Later, return to the Lodge for your lunch.

Spend the evening at Gorilla Guardian’s Village exploring the culture and traditions of Rwandans through beer brewing demonstrations, visit to the replica of King’s Palace, undertaking traditional dance performances and joining the local women in preparing local cuisines and even partaking of the food.  In the evening relish the ambiance of breathtaking Volcanoes National Park from the comfort of your Lodge.

Day 12: Dian Fossey tomb hike in Volcanoes National Park and tour of Twin Lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo

The 3-4 hours’ hike to the Dian Fossey tomb is one of the most thrilling ways to be charmed by Volcanoes National Park. You will take another ride to Kinigi Park Headquarters for briefing by the Park Rangers. The hike’s tidbits offer a perfect way to get oriented for the adventure and after get back to the Lodge for lunch.

In the evening take a boat ride on the Twin Lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo with views of surrounding rolling hills, small verdant islands, birds and so much more. Later, savour on a delicious meal for dinner and slumber at the same Lodge.

Day 13: Kigali Airport to Jomo Kenyatta Airport, Kenya

This morning, fly the breathtaking Rwanda to Kenya for another version of excitement, On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, get picked up by a driver for a ride to Masai Mara National Reserve. Be there in the evening and enjoy wilderness camping as well as bush dinner with sweet melodies of the savannah.

Day 14&15: Masai Mara wildlife viewing experience

The next two days, explore the savannah plains of Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s top safari destinations. Discover the different game tracks of this Park with rich sights of Cape buffaloes, Kobs, Topis, cheetahs, wildebeests, yellow baboons, African bush elephants, Topis, bushbucks, leopards, gazelles, serval cats, zebras, Masai giraffes, jackals, aardvarks, African wild dogs, and many others. Besides game drives, walking safaris and visit to Masai community/village are also planned for these two days.

Day 16: Departure and end of 16 days Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda safari

Depending on flight departure time, you will either have a half-day game drive first or straight away be picked at your Safari Lodge/Camp for the Airport. This marks the end of the 16 days Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda safari.
